Our volunteers play a pivotal role in supporting the well-being and success of our students! You don’t have to be the PTA president to volunteer. Whether you work full-time, part-time, or take care of younger kids at home, there are things you can do to help that are very important - but don't require a huge amount of time or a long-term commitment.
1. Share your talents to support the arts.
Music, art, and magic are universal languages! We welcome all skill levels: amateur musicians, students, music therapists, and professionals - even magicians!
2. Volunteer with community partners.
Savannah-Chatham County Public School System partners like Inspire EDU provide laptop computers for dozens of families at community learning workshops. You can sign up to help them during a Saturday session if weekends are best for you.
3. Help with the school garden.
Volunteering at a school garden allows you to contribute to students’ learning environment and fosters a sense of environmental awareness and sustainability.
4. Read to classes.
Volunteering to read with (or to) students helps children develop confidence and literacy skills.
5. Help beautify school entrances or update messaging.
Different ways of communicating with families (and our community) are essential, so something like changing out the messaging for an outdoor sign each week can help lighten the heavy workload on staff, allowing them to take care of other important matters crucial to the success of our students.
The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System is grateful to all our volunteers. You are making a difference every day in students' lives as we prepare them to live choice-filled lives.
